This is a photo I took of my wife at MetroCon in Tampa, FL this weekend at the Tampa Convention Center on Saturday 7/24/2010. This was taken in our photography studio - room 3. Using my Nikon D40x and standard lens I added a antique screw on filter from Japan. The chromakey backdrop did have a few wrinkles so I blurred out the lines using photoshop.
I am wearing the fuji (wisteria) kanzashi I handcrafted personally from rinzu silk. It's very different from the wisteria kanzashi seen worn by the maiko and hangyoku of Japan (apprentice geisha). I am also wearing my favorite black peony hikizuri in this photo.
Just in case anyone is curious, I am wearing a black hikizuri (not a montsuki) with a May motif theme- if you couldn't tell with the overabundance of wisteria/fuji. I am wearing the kabuki abura wax and ohiroi geisha/stage makeup here, and a stage hikari obi. I am also wearing a shimada katsura wig- about seven pounds in weight!
